"Therefore you too have grief now; but I will see you again, and your heart will rejoice, and no one will take your joy away from you." ~ Jesus Christ, John 16:22

In 2018 our Church obtained six acres of land which would become the necessary foundation for building the structure in which we worship today. The land was directly adjacent to a cemetery along Felmey road in Winfield, and held an additional number of graves which fell under our jurisdiction after our purchase. Since then we have made it a point to continue the upkeep of the spaces around which the deceased are buried. After acquiring further lands, we now have space for sections for both burials of parish members and members of the general public .
We at St. John's and in the Orthodox Church believe that death does not break the bonds between the souls of the living and the souls of the departed. Christ's commandment to love our neighbor is a duty which we uphold to the dead as well as the living. In our Church services, it is customary for us to pray for the souls of the deceased members of the Orthodox faith with the hopeful anticipation of their salvation on Judgement Day. As part of our efforts to share our love with the area in which we have chosen to root ourselves, we seek to extend our affections to the deceased just as we work to give to the living. To this end, we promise that any plot given to a person from the general public will be guaranteed good upkeep, care, and attendance after their repose. With this said, we hope interested readers will be encouraged to reach out and take us up on our offer. We offer discounted rates for veterans for individual and family plots.
Our Church was founded in 2015, and includes families who are longtime residents of the area, mainly American converts to Orthodoxy. Our priest, Rev. Dr. Paul Siewers is an Orthodox Chaplain and a professor at Bucknell University.

Two sections are available: the Common Cemetery (Section 1) which is open to all, and the Church Cemetery (Section 2) which is a section consecrated for Church members and is adjacent to the site of our future temple. Both sections are maintained by the Church and governed by its bylaws.
If you are looking to purchase plots, we will do our best to accommodate your preferred spot. A map of currently available locations can be emailed or texted to you upon request.
